Rules of the Range

Members use

  1. Use of the club is for the exclusive use by members of the Nature’s Way Target Club only and, by special consent, accredited security and law enforcement Personnel on allocated days of the week.
  2. The range is under constant camera surveillance.
  3. All users should sign the range register at Nature’s Way Farm Stall ahead of accessing the range 
  4. No smoking on MTO property.
  5. Persons engaged in shooting (shooters, target changers, ancillaries, etc.) shall not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  6. Access to this area necessitates caution.
  7. Shooters shall obey the range safety rules at all times. 
  8. Closed shoes are required on the range.
  9. Right of admission is reserved.
  10. By using this facility, you have indemnified all stakeholders.

Use of the Range

  1. Access from the demarcated area only.
  2. All weapons carried to the range, save for on the firing line, shall be carried safe at all times with magazine out. Condition 4. 
  3. Weapons should be accompanied by current licences confirming ownership and competency
  4. Hearing and eye protection is compulsory.
  5. Ammunition comprising tracer and incendiary bullets of any sort are strictly illegal on the range.
  6. The range is operated during daylight hours only. 
  7. The Range Safety Officer is responsible for all aspects of the range and his word is final.
  8. Keep the range clean and remove spent cartridges.
  9. All firearms should point down range when engaged, or unholstered, on the range.
  10. Access to targets and the stop wall are with the Range Officer’s express approval only. 
  11. Only small arms in terms of the definition are permitted and are limited to handguns, air rifles and shotguns.
  12. All shooters should clearly understand the phrases :”Fire”, “Cease fire”, “Range is Live” and “Make Weapons Safe”. 
  13. The importance of signs, safety measures and verbal instructions cannot be overemphasized.

    Rules of conduct for shooters:

    1. The firing point shall not be abandoned with a loaded firearm. 
    2. Firearms shall only be loaded at the firing point on instructions from the range officer, and with the barrel pointing at the bullet trap.
    3. Turning around with a loaded firearm is strictly forbidden.
    4. Only the targets provided shall be fired at. Under no circumstances shall glass bottles and tIn cans, etc be used as targets.
    5. Firearms shall be holstered, or put down unloaded, whenever shooting is interrupted for target changing, etc. Under no circumstances may firearms be handled whenever anyone is in front of the firing point, or points, in use at the time.
    6. Other owner’s firearms shall not be touched without the express permission of that owner.
    7. Hearing and eye protection shall be worn during shooting.
    8. Non shooting members to position themselves no less than 2 meters behind the shooters.
