About The Club

The concept of a sorely needed target range in Bitou has come about through circumstance complimented by passionate firearm owners needing regular shooting practice, a retired resident who had the time and motivation to make the club possible, a farmer who has done much of the onsite supervision and implementation, an Executive Committee with complimentary skills, who make a meaningful contribution on a daily basis, a farmstall who agreed to be the clubhouse and finally MTO who provided the land to construct the facility. We can be grateful to them all.

The idea of the club started in May 2024 with a formal application to MTO after the founders scoured Bitou for a suitable site for a range. What was chosen eventually was an informal shooting range in the old SAFCOL forests. This site was utilised by the Kurland Gun Club and law enforcement agencies, as was explained to us by our Club Chairman. The excavation was created prior to the 1980s when the new Tsitsikamma N2 freeway between Storms River and Plettenberg Bay was being built. Exact dates are not recorded but Bloukrans Bridge was officially opened in 1983 concurrent with the new N2.
